Fragile

by BAFTA-winning playwright Geoff Thompson

FRAGILE is one man play written and directed by BAFTA winning writer Geoff Thompson. The play first premiered at the Belgrade Theatre, Coventry in 2012 and went on to play the Edinburgh Fringe Festival in 2014 and the Kings Head Theatre, London in 2015, receiving Five star reviews.

Synopsis:

‘One’ is a middle age man still trying to come to terms with his crippling insecurity, the residue of childhood sexual abuse at the hands of a trusted teacher. An articulate and well-read man, he has gone through every form of therapy to relieve himself of the daily anxiety but none of it has worked, because he doesn’t trust anyone with his secret, even the people he love's. All he is left with is a reservoir of pain, a tape recorder, and an empty room.
Over three acts 'One' confesses with brutal honesty the guilt, the rage and his secret shame that has kept him locked inside a prison of flesh for three decades. Everything; all the things that he really wanted to tell his teacher, his father, his mother and (ultimately) God. He’d like to tell them personally but his dad is dead, his teacher has hanged himself, God has abandoned him and his mum is too fragile.
